It’s a great book even if my daughter is too little to start cooking. She is enjoying the pictures and later on we will be able to make some of the recipes together.

The cookbook relates to the movie, so if you see the movie you will enjoy this cookbook more than ever. The recipes vary from your simple banana french toast to an interesting “yumbo gumbo”. The Louisiana flare is great. It has my 9 year old trying different types of food than what would be normally served in our home. And what’s even better, she makes it. The book is illustrated beautifully with color pictures of the final product. The instructions are easy to follow, but the meal is anything but simple.

There is no words to explain how amazing this book is for kids as well as for adults. I purchase this book for my daughter for the Christmas Holiday’s and I was amaze how the pictures were as well as the recipe’s were set-up. Very easy for kids to learn and follow. I truly love this bbok. As a parent I was ready to start trying some of the recipe’s myself. Job Well Done!

My 4 year-old daughter received this cookbook from my mom for Christmas and we made Charlotte’s Coffee Cake on page 11. The instructions for the recipe were very simple & easy to follow. There are steps in the cookbook that really give smaller kids a chance to ‘use their hands’ with the help of an adult, of course. I measured out all the ingredients and had my daughter put them in the bowls. This recipe in particular includes a cinnamon filling and my daughter was able to put all the ingredients in the bowl and use her hands to mix up the filling. My 20 month old son even got to help out by putting some of the mixture into the bowl too.

I looked through all the recipes and there aren’t any exotic ingredients, everything can be found at your supermarket and don’t require a lot fluff. Since this is a cookbook geared towards kids I think it is a perfect way to start teaching your child how to cook and bake and become familiar with the kitchen. By having both kids in the kitchen, it also shows teamwork, cooperation & sharing and they can even learn counting with measuring the ingredients. Moreover, it gave us all a chance to bond in the kitchen – I’m usually shoo-ing them out. The final product was pretty tasty and since my daughter wants a Princess & the Frog party for her birthday, we’ll probably be using plenty of recipes from the book.

My daughter received this book as a birthday gift and is so excited to try all of the recipes! Last night I made Cal’s Chicken and Biscuits…and can I tell you how wonderful it is!!! Very easy to do and simply delicious. I can’t wait to try the rest of the recipes! I highly recommend this book. Although the recipes are not for ‘child cooks’ it is always fun to include your little one while you do the cooking.

I just got my book in the mail this afternoon, and cooked a whole southern dinner of jambalaya, cornbread, and julep. It was delicious! Really great, easy recipes for anyone, kid or adult to make. Tomorrow morning, I’m making those beignets!

Great book!

This is a great little cookbook for little girls to use along with their moms/grandmoms. I can’t imagine that any small child could ever prepare any of the recipes by themselves because there is a lot of chopping involved. We’re already made the Jammin’ Jambalaya and Yumbo Gumbo and they are very good and seem authentic. This just may be our new Christmas Eve tradition along with a reading of “The Cajun Night Before Christmas”.
